Simple Faith

So I just have to purge this really beautiful moment from church today. 

For a couple years now, Jake has been standing with his arms completely extended during the consecration part of Mass. I always just thought it was because he was copying the priest standing at the altar with arms extended, but today he provided me with a revelation! 

It all began when he flapped his arms out to the side so fast he smacked me in the head, nearly taking out my left eyeball!  Thank goodness there was no one on the other side! 

I asked him why he does this and to please be careful not to hit anyone else.

"I have to do it  like this because that's how you get an open heart, like Jesus up there (looking at giant hanging Jesus on the crucifix)!" 

Just sit with that a minute. 

He wants a open heart. He wants to be like Jesus. He realizes an open heart is something very special and is trying to figure out how to get there.  An open heart makes God happy.

Yeah. That's pretty cool.
