Q & A With a Super Hero
This Chapter of Q & A's is my attempt at getting inside the brain-works of Autism. I'm not saying Jake has all the answers or they'll be the same answers your child is trying to communicate but it's a nice "stained glass" window into his brain.
I have to carefully gauge when to ask Jake the questions and if he feels up to it. Many times the questions are very casually asked while he's at the dinner table. If I see that he's very talkative and focused, I'll ask him if he wants to write a story. He usually responds the same way every time.
"A story to help people?"
Yes.
"I like to do those stories!"
So once he's a willing participant, fascinating answers abound.
