By crisis, I mean real crisis. When events of national devastation happen, I start the protect at all costs dance. I watch who he talks to, eavesdrop on conversations and jump in at mention of disaster. We keep the TV's off, radios low and lie the newspapers face down. Autism oftentimes comes with anxiety and there's no reason for Super Hero kids to have to understand tragedies such as the marathon bombings or NYC twin towers attacks. What's the benefit of terrifying and paralyzing young minds which may not ever grasp how people can act in such a hateful way? Protect your babies!
If your house is like ours in the mornings, it's a combination of science lab (pharmaceuticals) and restaurant (short order cook/lunch maker). Most tasks are performed half-asleep on my part, much to the dismay of Jake. Some times he actually gets what he wants, sometimes it's cold cereal and juice. WARNING: Please, be careful which juice you drink when you fill one glass with Miralax first! Trust me you don't want the details. Just be very careful!
