So I just have to purge this really beautiful moment from church today.
For a couple years now, Jake has been standing with his arms completely extended during the consecration part of Mass. I always just thought it was because he was copying the priest standing at the altar with arms extended, but today he provided me with a revelation! It all began when he flapped his arms out to the side so fast he smacked me in the head, nearly taking out my left eyeball! Thank goodness there was no one on the other side! I asked him why he does this and to please be careful not to hit anyone else. "I have to do it like this because that's how you get an open heart, like Jesus up there (looking at giant hanging Jesus on the crucifix)!" Just sit with that a minute. He wants a open heart. He wants to be like Jesus. He realizes an open heart is something very special and is trying to figure out how to get there. An open heart makes God happy. Yeah. That's pretty cool. You're welcome.

Every year I get a Mother's Day movie which highlights the past year!
Jake and Chris take bets on how quickly I'll start crying once the movie plays! This year, as soon as I heard, Safe and Sound, I burst into boo hoos! Here's the link if you want to watch. Mother's Day 2014 This morning, I experienced what my dreams are made of. I was exhausted after a late concert Friday night, and it was a very rare Saturday that Chris was actually home and off work.
So both of my guys let me sleep until 8:00am! It was the most glorious thing to lay in that bed. But the true miracle of the morning happened before the sun came up. I was soundly dead-to-the-world when a gentle hand pulled the blankets down to reveal my face. "I missed you so much yesterday," as his strong, steady hand stroked the hair away from my face. I was instantly transported into some dream land while thinking, I have the best husband ever to let me sleep today! He bent down closer to kiss me right on the lips and whisper in my ear, "Go to sleep, I love you so much... Mommy!" After this day-break delight I sort of felt obligated to make the oft-requested cheesy-eggs, chocolate-chip-homemade waffles and crispy bacon for breakfast. No sweat -- just lots of love. |
